Roulette Variety

We are sure all Casinoz readers interested in roulette are familiar with basic variations of the most famous gambling game. We are going to remind you that there are three traditional types of roulette:

  1. European roulette is common at modern online casinos.
  2. American roulette features the 00 sector and a special arrangement of numbers on the wheel.
  3. French roulette is primarily known for its favorable rules for outside bets and unique layout.

Other articles on Casinoz provide details of the rules of these variations. A themed section offers roulette strategies, betting systems, and bankroll management advice.

This piece is dedicated to less popular but still interesting versions of roulette that may be found at land-based and online casinos. Sometimes, they are also offered as board games for home use.

Mini Roulette

This is a fairly common game offered by several reputable software manufacturers. Casinoz provides reviews of mini roulette games released by NetEnt and Playtech.

As the name implies, this roulette is smaller than the traditional one. Indeed, it has only thirteen numbers on the wheel, from 0 to 12. They are also written on the layout: zero is close to the wheel, and the remaining twelve numbers are set in the 3x4 grid.

Bets are made on one, two, three, or four numbers, half dozen (six numbers), color, and odd/even.

You will find the payout multipliers in the game reviews on Casinoz.

It is important to note that the house edge in mini roulette is 3.85%. So, it is less profitable than the European version, not to mention the French roulette.

No Zero Roulette

The main feature of this game is the lack of zero on the wheel. Consequently, such a sector is also absent from the table layout.

The multipliers are similar to those valid in classic roulette. Casinos seem to have no house edge in this game, but it is like that.

Clubs offering no-zero roulette usually charge gamblers fees, which can be fixed or dependent on the bet size.

You can play No Zero Roulette for free in casinos using Alfaplay games.

La Boule Roulette

This game was popular in the nineteenth century. Users could find them in many respectable casinos. Nowadays, land-based clubs rarely offer La Boule roulette, but it is not so difficult to find it at online casinos. In particular, La Boule Roulette is available in the iSoftBet portfolio.

La Boule Roulette has a non-standard interface with numbers from one to nine, an unusual table layout, unique bets, and other interesting characteristics.

The fastest way to understand its rules is to test it personally. Fortunately, this can be done absolutely for free.

Multiball Roulette

Several manufacturers of online gambling games offer various kinds of roulette with two or more balls.

The basic rules remain the same in some cases, and additional balls only speed up the gameplay. For example, each ball triggers a separate spin in Multiball Roulette by Novomatic.

In other variations, like Double Ball Roulette by Felt Gaming, the virtual dealer spins two balls individually. They both determine the winning numbers. The payouts are lower.

Such games are also available in portfolios of other software developers.

Multi Wheel Roulette

Many software providers offer games with several wheels.

Basic rules are valid in Multi Wheel Roulette by Microgaming. Several wheels allow users to speed up the gameplay, which is definitely beneficial for the house.

3 Wheel Roulette by IGT has one table that consists of three independently spinning wheels. They are of different diameters and are located inside each other. There is only one ball, but it determines the winning numbers directly on three wheels.

Roulettes without Numbers

In some versions of roulette, the usual numbers are completely or partially absent on the wheel. Letters or other symbols are used instead.

Chinese Roulette by Oryx Gaming may surprise you with its symbols, which feature images of animals that, in astrology, have given names to different years. These pictures are available in four colors. There are also additional elements. Bets are made on individual symbols and their combinations, colors, elements, seasons, etc.

Astro Roulette by Oryx Gaming has zodiac signs on the wheel. Users can also bet on seasons, classical elements of nature, the sun, or the moon. In general, this game resembles the Chinese roulette mentioned above.

Bauern Roulette

This is a very unusual roulette believed to have been invented by German farmers many years ago. It resembles a bowl with holes. Colored balls are placed inside. Then, a spinning top is spun. It pushes the balls towards the holes. If the ball reaches the hole, it gives the player points.

Bauern Roulette is rarely seen in casinos but can be purchased for home use.

Roulettes with Bonuses

There are also versions of roulette with unusual bets and bonus payouts.

Mystery Roulette x38 by Novomatic has two extra sectors, "?" and "??", on the wheel and table layout. If any of them appears, bet payouts are calculated based on a random multiplier: from 10x to 100x for "?" and from 2x to 500x for "??."

Marvel Roulette by Playtech is related to a series of gambling games based on Marvel comics. There is an additional sector for bets. If it wins, the player may play a free spins bonus round in the three-reel video slot on the screen.

Double Bonus Spin and Triple Bonus Spin by IGT are games with additional sectors on the wheel. If one of the bets made on them wins, free spins are triggered on a special roulette with several wheels.

Other Unique Roulettes

There are also other non-standard roulette games in online gambling.

  • Pinball Roulette by Playtech has a system that resembles a pinball. It is used instead of the wheel. The ball is released from a hole. It falls and bounces off all sorts of obstacles. Then, it lands on one of the sectors numbered from zero to thirty-six. This number is considered to be the winning one. Wagers can be made by the standard rules.
